Since November 2015 the subsidy regulation Stimuleringsregeling Eigentijdse Dans (SED) has been in effect. The regulation was stopped in 2019, but the City Council decided to extend the regulation.
With a total budget of more than €90.000 freelance dance/performance artists working in Amsterdam will be supported to rent their rehearsal spaces. This regulation will run until October 15th 2020 in collaboration with Cultuur+Ondernemen and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK). From 2021 onwards, the subsidy regulation will be executed by the AFK.
Info about SED:
It's possible for independant professional dance and performance makers based in Amsterdam to apply for a subsidy with the organization Cultuur & Ondernemen to cover the rental costs of temporarily rehearsal space in Amsterdam. The space can be used for rehearsals or research. This maximum subsidy is €3000 incl. tax per year-per person, providing funding for about 45 people on a first come, first serve basis. Before you can apply you need to do a professionalism test, if you haven't done so: you can do that 'till the 27th of November 2019. Monday the 2nd of December 2019 at 12:00 the application form for the period 2020 will be online. Experience shows that the number of applications exceeds the available budget. Applications are therefore assessed in order of receipt. So be sure that you hit that 'send' button in time!
